| Year-End Technology Inventory is Essential Step in Disaster Planning |
New York, NY December 05,
2006 -- The approach of the year-end should be a
signal for companies of all sizes to conduct an inventory of
their IT assets – a step that could make a significant
difference in their ability to recover from an unforeseen
disaster, says Matti Kon, CEO of InfoTech Solutions for
Business, Inc.
"Many companies fail to maintain an
accurate inventory of their IT assets," Kon says. "This puts
them at a tremendous disadvantage in the event of an unforeseen
disaster – whether a major natural disaster, a fire or a
plumbing leak that floods an entire floor. Without an accurate
list of what they own and how much it costs, filing an accurate
insurance claim for the lost or damaged assets can be extremely
difficult."
Ideally, says Mr. Kon, companies should
maintain an up-to-date inventory at all times, but if they
don’t, they should add it to their check-list of year-end
activities.
Mr. Kon, whose company provides IT
outsourcing and a number of other services, recommends web-based
IT inventory systems hosted remotely - such as InfoTech’s custom
Web Inventory System Hosting (WISH) platform offered to all
InfoTech’s IT outsourcing clients. The WISH platform enables
companies easily to maintain an accurate record of all hardware
and software assets purchased and implemented – in a secure
web-based environment that will not be affected by disasters
that strike the company itself.
